Not sure if I have seen a flight shot of this species that did not have sky as the background.
This was taken a couple of weeks ago.

BG is beautiful. Great comp. and details as well. Not too often seen in flight. Sweet catch.

Great flight shot, wonderful detail, catchlight and BG. First flight shot of this bird that I've seen, TFS!

Love the non-sky flights, and the head turn towards you make this one special for me :)

I like the flying posture and HA, sharp, and against a lovely smooth BG.

Wow, where I am from, this shot is almost impossible as these guys are so hard to find during daytime and also so hard to see them flying... Great flying pose, amazing light, BG, detail, species and overall image! Big congrats!

Yes this is not the regular CNH image!
Love the BG and the cristal clear eye. Agree with Ramon in that this species is very hard to find flying, especially during the day.

This is a spectacular shot -- probably one of a kind. Congratulations.

One of a kind Alan. I wonder if you "happened" near a nest and this might have been a bird circling to try to land again. Either way, it's probably the best nighthawk shot I have ever seen. Catching the bird with that great HA and sharp eye couldn't have been easy.

Fantastic flight shot Alan. I like the posture and head angle. The bird also pops nicely from the green BG.
