I'm really liking the painterly look provided by the grass in the foreground. Very nice EXP and pose and of course, the such a big plus.

Congratulations on a great first post. Background is gorgeous, and I like the position of the bird (not to mention the catch). Exposure looks good. Large catchlight seems a bit distracting to me, even if natural. Personal preference, but were it mine I might consider trimming its size down a little, and maybe taking a bit of crop off the top. Minor nits, however, for a lovely image.
