Our city has seen a housing boom for more than a decade. One bonus from all this house building are the storm management ponds found at these new housing divisions. One is home to 4 or 6 families of Pied-billed Grebes offering great photo ops from spring into summer. This one is along Aquaview drive (bordered by Lake Point road and Silverado Crescent in Orleans (east end of Ottawa).
Had the opportunity to watch a family of 3 young along with the adult grebes out for a swim in the early morning. Here the young are watching intently as a parent bathes but likely wondering where is the food :-) Canon 40D and 400 5.6L lens.

Very cute, the adult almost looks like a chick himself! It wool be great if you included the techs so we can do an informed critique. Without seeing them, I can only guess a bier more DOF could have helped with the chick. As it stands now, it needs a not of CW rotation and selective sharpening of the chicks. Thanks for sharing it with us, William.
