    Default The siren's call

    Hi Y'all,

I was at the Viera Wetlands when this otter came rushing out of the water, ran 20 yards, went back into the water and came out with a siren.

    WOW Harry,

Thanks for posting that its amazing. Wish I could have seen that, better yet wish I could have photographed it. Good going.

FYI, a Siren is a huge type of Salamander without arms or legs, they look like eels.

I see some haloing but I love the image anyway.

That is an awesome capture. Thanks for the definition Robert, I thought he was eating an elephant. Two nits: I would have cropped him a little more or shown all of him. The other nit is, I wish i would have been there.
    Well done.

Thanks all for the comments and critique. Its funny because I've been shooting at the Viera Wetlands for close to 5 years now and never really got a decent otter shot as they aren't very tolerant of a human presence. Then on 3 consecutive days in January,2008 I shot at the wetlands & I came across an otter on land and eating a siren. Then I had this scene happen in front of me last month during the annual wildlife shoot that I host on the Space Coast.

Very nice. I like the colors and the low angle. The only thing I can see is just a little more room around the subject.

Great natural history moment here... Great low angle.. A bit tight all around. Greens seem a bit much on my monitor. Great capture!!
