My Back yard. This guy looks a bit puzzled by something near the feeder. A squirrel perhaps?

1D4 with 500 f4. ISO 200 and f6.3 and 1/640 on tripod with EV -1/3. Fill flash at EV - 1 2/3. Cropped to about 85% of original. Processed in LR 2.7 and CS4.

Thanks for looking. C&C most welcome

Hi Ed, Striking colour on the cardinal, and I like the pose. The blue flowers on the left add to the image, although showing more of the flowers on the extreme left would work better. Comp wise, maybe a little off the top and bottom - taking the perch away from the central placement.

    Ed:

Good critique from Stuart. Very strong primary colors in bird, flowers and BG. I would be inclined to crop up from the bottom a bit, and certainly add more to the left if you have it. The bird is so strong, that it can stand more flowers in the frame.
The lighting is a bit uneven on the bird, from shadows.

    Cheers

    Randy

I like the inclusion of the purple flowers, the smooth BG and bird but I find the perch a bit simple and it would benefit if were not in the middle of the frame.
