Up-Close Mule Deer
Stuart Bowie's wonderful, "Inquisitive Pose" shot made me think of a close-up of a mule deer I made last summer in the Badlands of South Dakota. I've always liked it but I've been hesitant to post because it is an extremely "in your face" shot. The deer is backlit right at sunset. I cropped the ears a little to center the eyes in the frame. Interested in your thoughts.

Hey Danny, I dont think you had anything to worry about for this portrait. I like the HA, lovely big eyes, and I like the softer colours in the BG too.
Hi Danny, can you add the image uncropped. Just wondered if you cropped more on the rhs and had the whole left ear in, as you view it? Great detail.

Nice, David, I like that. I never pick up on color cast but I'm red/green color blind and lame on other colors.I think that's exactly what makes it such a nice image. Good job!

Hi Danny Well framed original, sure wish you had raised the ISO more even with the 40D .. a bit more dof field would have helped but like as is !! Color balance suggestions by David make a big difference, might only tone down a bit more form ideal to account for the soft light !!!
