Gorgeous shot Rich, my suggestion would be to change your angle or move the perch to ensure a simple background - I would go for the green and blend it a little to reduce the block effect.

Good-looking specimen, sharpness and light. I would try to get more details in the blacks and if the perch is a setup I would move it so that the background is more even or that the green/brown line does not cross the bird.

Got it! Will try again; nature reserve is near me so I will practice.

The BG does spoil it a bit but the detail is excellent. Well done!

With a different BG it could be killer. Light and detail are very nice.

Agree the background isnt ideal but it is a cracking shot in terms of detail. Theyre one of my favourite birds too so it brought a smile to my face too :)

    Hi

OK Johnathan you are right, think this is OK now so have replaced it, checked everything and indeed there was way too much blue; I had used an auto setting which was naff.

    Thanks for comments

Actually I took this shots minutes before; detail is still very good and much better def in the feathers on tail and back, BG a little better.

    what comments?

Richard I have never seen a bullfinch like that before I think something has happened to your colour management?? Or perhaps there is a very strong light cast filtering through the surroundings
