    This is my first tern image. The Whites, and black are a challenge for sure. I welcome your suggestions, and corrections.

    Don:

    The exposure looks good to me. On this type of bird, def. expose for the whites and deal with the blacks in post. I find that blown whites always jump out more at me than blocked blacks.

    The softer the light, the better the chance to capture the entire dynamic range of the image.

    Nice shooting angle here. Wish there was a bit of a catchlight. Might also consider a small crop down from the top.

    I think it looks good. One thing about those dark eyes......hard to get detail and/or catchlight if the light isn't just right. I've learned to move or wait for the right turn to get one. Well done.

    Nice clean capture Don. I agree with the eye comments. It's a great profile of a very nice bird but a bit "static" IMO. A more dynamic head angle or action would create interest.
