    Default Orton attempt

The weather has been so rainy here that I haven't gotten a chance to go out and take a weather picture:D At least it gave me time to practice some techniques that have been posted here. I used Deb Sandidge's workflow for creating an Orton effect. Hopefully I'm on the right track:)

    Comments and suggestions appreciated.

Lovely Orton, Cheryl. I have one question and that is if you tried it with the saturation down just a little bit? It feels awfully "heavy" in color to me. That said, the Orton effect is beautiful and the photo over all is very nice.

Very nice! I want to try it when I have time to go through my flower images. I agree the saturation could be lowered a bit.

Jules, I agree about the colors being heavy. I thought so too. I tried a dup layer with a slight screen mode to lighten it up but I think I need to go back, completely redo it and on the multiply layer back off a bit more:)

I like the Orton effect, I also like over saturated images (I know its not for everyone), which seems to heighten the Orton look....Well done
I'd like to see the what this would look like with saturation lowered, though.

The Orton effect looks good Cheryl IMO. Also you can go to a site called Action central, and download it as an action. www.atncentral.com. Think that is the url.

Actually, I am in the group that likes the image as is. There is very good detail, textures, and love the pattern created by the center of the the sunflower.

Cheryl, I think you did a good job on the Orton. I like the effect for this image, it works well! As far as saturation, I think it's part of the look of this one but I might tone down the yellow petals along the bottom of the image. I like the feeling of light and warmth coming from the image. Nice!

    Nice image and application, Cheryl.

Only suggestion, I think a dark border would set off the colors better and make this image shine. I like the saturation, but the edge (of the site background area) is too light to show it.

Beautiful work, Cheryl. The orton effect looks great. I love the warm colors, though I agree with the others on just lowering the saturation a tad.

Thanks everyone for your comments. It was my first attempt so I was surprised at how saturated it was.
Here's a repost with a little less saturation. I'm not sure but I might like the OP better but I'm not sure.

I think I like the repost better, Cheryl. They are both lovely, though. Very nice job with the effects.
