    Default After the Storm

    Attached Images Attached Images

This image was taken of a fishing pier, in Naples, six weeks after Charley devastated the west coast of Florida. There was a new storm that had moved up the coast and was over Tampa at the time this image was taken, with the effects of the storm felt along the entire Gulf coast of Florida. The image is “centered” vertically, to show the struggle between the storm clouds above and the sea below.

Modifications in CS4 included; Cutout, Accent Edges, Craquelure, Topaz Denoise & Detail, as well as Shadow/Highlight, Vibrance/Saturation, and Hue/Saturation adjustments.

    Enjoy!

Mark, interesting colors and treatment as always! I like the blues of the sky and the contrasting purples of the water and shore. The pier makes a nice separator and I think the vertical centering works for this.

Mark, I like the composition and colors. (I'm glad the fishing pier survived Charley:))

Mark I love what this did to the water and the pier but the clouds seem overpowering to me. I wonder if you went more with a 1/3 clouds and 2/3 water balance if that would be stronger compositionally?

Another nice graphic composition, Mark. I like the colors and definitely the pier adds to the image. The effect on the water is very nice although the sky seems bit overpowering just as Julie mentioned.

Thanks all for viewing and comments. Appreciate it.

Understand your cropping suggestions. I tired it, but it did not give me the feeling of the magnitude of the storm. I felt the balancing of the sky and the sea was closer to what we felt so far from the center of the storm that day. But again, thanks for your comments, as always.
