    Default Eye to Eye

While photographing hummingbirds in my back yard, this little verdin Auriparus flaviceps landed on my honeysuckle bush which was buzzing with bees. I shot a series of images as this bee flew right at it. The verdin lunged at the bee (another frame) but missed, and when he resettled on the branch, the two were in near perfect alignment.

    Nikon D2x, Nikon 200-400mm f/4 AF-S, f/6.3, ISO 200, 1/500 sec. Manual exposure, Matrix metering.

Great catch, Nathan. BG and blossom colors are great. Image looks a little soft as presented so a touch more sharpening may be worth a try. Great juxtaposition really makes it though.

Very interesting view, the bee looks rather large compared to the Verdin, were they on the same plain? Bee is surprisingly sharp for 1/500sec, you did very well.

A wonderfully colorful image that brought a smile to my face. Excellent job capturing the moment. If I didn't know better.....I'd say that was a look of surprise.....on the bee's face. Well done.

Adorable and different for sure, the flowers seem to add such a touch to the already awesome action. A bit of a head turn towards you would have put an already amazing image over the top.
