    Default Pied-billed Grebe + day-old chick.

On July 1st all 6 eggs were unhatched, then when I went back yesterday (July 3rd) two of them were hatched - making them about 1 day old. VERY cute!! The second is not visible, but also tucked under the parent's wing. Not satisfied with the shooting perspective this location offers, I needed to sort of contort myself lower along the bank - kinda sideways with my feet and legs higher than my head - in order to get a better low angle.

    Canon 40D + 100-400L @400mm, aperture priority, evaluative metering, 1/800s., f/8, ISO 400, +0.7 EC, natural light, handheld, about 75% full frame.

Nice family shot here Daniel! Great water colour and low angle. I find the lighter part of the water on the left a tiny bit distracting, but that isn't a biggy. Cool shot!:)

The low angle was worth the discomfort Daniel.

    Great eye contact and catchlights.

Angle, sharpness and eye contact look great and the little passenger makes it even stronger.

Daniel - great shot. I love the water highlights and how they compliment the bird's beak colour. Of course, the little cutie hiding in the feathers really makes the shot. All that effort to find a good shot angle paid off!

Peek a boo. Love the look of the water, the soft light, and of course the cute little one.
