I do not know why, but I really like these birds. While I was photographing them they came quite close and tried to inspect my camera and tripod :)

Love this shot Jan. This bird has no secrets now - you have revealed every wrinkle known to the species! The BG is wonderful, exposure is right on and the pose is, uh, elegant (if a vulture can be that). Thanks for posting. I have a new appreciation for this animal.

Great head shot. Am getting into these kind of shots more and more and this is good example why so. Great detail, in the wattles and feathers, good HT/eyecontact and good BG, the soft light is very nice. Well done!

Perfect head angle and great detail. I'm a fan of vultures too. I might add a sliver of canvas up top, but of course this is a FF image.

Great portrait of this not so popular bird. Sharpness, light, exposure control and BG look very good. I hope he didn't nibble on the rubber parts of your equipment. :)

Oh I am sure that was their intention when they looked at me and my camera with their big eyes :D

Jan, I am a big fan of tight portraits. This one is perfect. the details, BG, light, exposure....everything is excellent. A vertical 8X10 will also work very well IMO.
