    D90; 80-400 VR @ 80mm. ISO 1000. f/7.1. 1/500s. -0.7 EV.

Shot from a moving Zodiac off Isabela Island in the Galapagos a few months ago. large crop (~50%). Not sure why I didn't zoom in a bit, but 80mm is what the EXIF says. C&C appreciated.

Thanks Harold. A lower perspective would have put me in the water (or possibly lying on the floor of the Zodiac but it was full of people). Actually I did see one of these guys swim past me underwater as I was snorkeling, but he "flew" by me so fast I didn't have time to train my little underwater camera on him.

Serious! Swimming with sea lions was a blast! (I got some poor-quality video footage of that.) I only saw one penguin underwater, and was not as lucky as some in our group who also swam with sea turtles. Fantastic trip.

Bill - You did well under very tough conditions. I have a lot of photos of half of a penguin as the panga bounced, not to mention a few of just rocks. Swimming with them was incredible but you're right, they sure are fast. TFS

Harold - in addition to snorkeling with penguins, sea lions and marine turtles, the Galapagos is the only place I;ve been where someone yells "shark" and everyone heads toward the shark. The guides told us the food is so abundant that the hammerheads and reef sharks never bother the people.

Hi Bill - do not think you could have done any better with what you had to deal with!
Lots to like here - good HA and exposure looks good.

The bird looks sharp and your exposure looks good. I also like the determination look of the penguin and the background shown environment. I might try to tone down the highlight on the chest.

Sound like you really have great time on the trip, swimming with penguin, wow.
