Here is another beauty that I photographed at Zoo Miami the other day with my Canon 1D MK IV handheld. I need the ID on this one too. Maybe Ken Lassman can find this one too.... ISO 1000, f/5.0, 1/50 sec, 0.33 EV, EF100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS USM, 190mm (247mm), Evaluative Metering, Auto Exposure, Auto WB, No Flash. Comments Welcome....
Well Richard...you really challenged me this time. Spent a lot of time last night trying to find this one, and at first thought it was in the crow or magpie family because of the shape of the head and bill....spent more time this morning (I need to get a life :) ). And the answer is: ORIENTAL DOLLAR BIRD
You should Google it...really cool bird....gets its' name from the Silver Dollar markings on the underside of each wing. The bill turns orange/red with age and they are found from Australia throughout Southeast Asia. So now we should expect Lance to post some pictures of them in flight ;)
Richard...next time at the zoo....shoot elephants, apes and water buffalo...much easier to ID :D

Did wonder if it was some kind of dollar bird - Dont get them down my way - and are a tough one spend a lot of their time high up in trees - difficult to get!
Wondeful bird Richard - done well for the Zoo setting.
bit tight at the bottom get the feeling his tail might have extended out of the frame.

Hi Richard, Interesting bird! One of many I've never seen before. Good pose and agree with Lance about being a bit tight on the bottom. I would have preferred a backround with a bit less distractions...
Thanks for the comments. The problem with the shot was that the perch was so big it covered the tail. Therefore I cropped it tighter. When it cools off I'll go back for more.
