    Hi Cory,

I do like it! I find the placement of the bird in frame to be pleasing. The fully raised wing is nice and the inclusion of the prey adds interest. Your exposure looks pretty good and I see good detail. I wish the head/bird were angled more towards us. Thanks for sharing.

Nice catch on both parts :)
Angle a bit steep, but good wing position. Open bill a plus.
I see a slight halo around the bird consistent with the use of Active D-lighting.

Didn't use D-lighting so not sure about the halo, thanks for the comments.

Cory, another round of selective sharpening on the head would make it pop more.

Re posting this, I changed the orientation, sharpened and had to add some sky. Thank you all for your comments and critiques.

Oh, btw this is how the bird was actually flying. I had to tilt my camera because of how close it was.

Cory, I actually prefer the original better. That is just my preference. TFS.

I'm speculating that the halo is caused by using the SH tool on the entire image. Try selecting the bg - then invert selection - contract 1 pixel - then use SH tool. This will avoid the halo while still getting the benefits of SH.
