    Default juvenile killdeer

    From early june
The killdeer babies are tough to shoot. They blend in with everything. Just a fuzzball with long legs! enjoy.

Love the subject, but he seems backlit such that there's little detail showing in his eyes and face. The eyes are amazing on these guys, so I'd have kept shooting, hoping for a more sideway HA to catch some light in his eyes. Also, I'd rotate a degree or two CCW. Also, I'd probably go for a square crop and eliminate those two big rocks, but keep most of the water ripples. Yeah, I know, these little guys don't alway pay attention to our instructions...

    Still, lovely bird.

Hi - Cute little guy - agree with Davids comments would have also tried to get a lower shooting angle - which would eliminate some of the BG clutter and put more emphasis on the little guy. My eye's keep going to the rocks in the foreground - removing them may help.
    Is this a large crop?

Hi Daniel, I was also wondering if it was a large crop which seemed to affect the IQ. Agree on the rotation and the shooting angle. What I find most distracting is the brightness in the water...
