    Default Savannah Sparrow standing tall.

With all the sparrow species I photographed this Spring, this was one that I hadn't photographed yet. It is an easy sparrow to get images of...just go to the appropriate habitat to find them in, get a nice perch, and set some speakers just below that perch:). This one is an old weathered fence post that we thought had nice character to it (I was with fellow BPNer Wayne Wood).

    Canon 40D + 100-400L @400mm, aperture priority, evaluative metering, 1/160s., f/6.3, ISO 800, +0.3 EC, just about FF.

Perch is fantastic Daniel, sharpness and composition works very fine here. Usually I like bicolored, graduated backgrounds but I think that in this case, a higher shooting position would produce even a better result :)

    Hi Daniel,

I like this a lot! I find your composition to be very effective resulting in a very fine image. The pose of the bird is nice. I especially like the spread leg stance. The background is quite lovely with the gradation of colors from light blue to a brown-green, I also think the perch has a lot of character and adds to the image. All elements work for me. Well done and thanks for sharing.

You picked out a nice perch for this little guy. I like the even light and sharpness. Do agree with Juan about a higher shooting angle, but it's also good as presented.

Cool 'king of the perch' pose. Sharpness, eye contact and composition look very good, too.
