I photographed this green beauty the other day at Zoo Miami (used to be called Metro Zoo) with my Canon 1D MK IV. ISO 1600, f/5.6, 1/60 sec, +0.67ev, EF100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS USM, 400mm (520mm), Evaluative Metering, Auto Exposure, Auto WB, No Flash. I didn't realize how heavy the shade was inside the aviary and didn't bring a flash. My nerves must have been steady because I handheld this shot. I'd love to know which bird this is. Next time I bring my flash..... Comments welcome.

Coool bird Richard - Zoo's are tough.
Are the greens a little too bright?? - Not familiar with the bird though - so could be spot on.

Hi Richard Cool looking bird, hope you find the ID !!

Tech wise do not hesitate to go higher with the ISO I have been noticing with my pictures some under exposure for wanting more shutter speed, see a ridiculous shutter speed then raise some. In the case of my rodeo images not a good thing Here I just don't see any detail in the dark feathers.

Didn't know about the name change !!! ... btw I know those birds must have a vivid green but might tone down a couple of points !!

Glad you were able to capture him Richard. By the time I walked back to the camera he was gone.
Well done considering the low light we had and the fact you were hand holding. Ken, thanks for the id.
    congrats

Thanks Ken for the ID, good job!! My mentor, Alfred, said I should tone it down, but that's exactly how it looked, at least on my monitor... Also, Don, you definitely can bring in any tripod you want....
