    Default Lanner Falcon

    Hi There

Another shot of Lanner Falcon "Charlie Brown" in display at HCT. I am always trying to get the bird as large as I am able in the frame given the minimum focus distance of the 500mm, and with the eye in focus if possible rather than some other part of the bird. Which generally means in my experience that you lose some part of the wing... or tail as these guys are moving by pretty quickly.

Now maybe I should have binned this one but i thought about various crops and came up with this one which i quite like but would be grateful to hear others comment. Alas I don't have anymore of the R-H wing as it was off the top of the frame.

The detail looks good in this one and especially with ISO 800....no noise. The eye contact is excellent and that head is ever so sharp. The only thing I'm not sure about is the crop. I'm pretty much a traditionalist......lacking in the "creative" areas so I don't really know what works here. You have to keep in mind that I'm in science......and I like things boringly symmetrical.
