    Default Jack rabbit

    Jack rabbit in morning shadows

    7D + 400 f/4.5 + 1.4x = 700mm, f/7.1, 1/200, ISO 800, Dodgepod & beanbag

I shot a few photos, some at ISO 800, some at 1250. 1250 was a little better for shutter speed, but the best HA was this photo. The photo is not razor sharp, but perhaps there are other redeeming qualities. I cloned out some hotspots, but left the one around his ear - wasn't sure I could repair it well, so it's just toned down as much as possible in post.

    C&C appreciated.

this is looking good on my screen. my eye is drawn straight to that beautiful eye. the hotspot doesnt bother me at all and the habitat is great. well done. if anything i might tone down the brightness of the foreground grasses.

Hi Meesh Good rabbit placement in frame, like the pose and overall feel The oof white flowers are grabbing my attention and rather they were not there !!

Glad you experimented at different ISO, forget the composition etc just look at quality for future reference ... btw did you do any blurring to the bg?

Meesh - Like the rabbit and the eye does grab you but the surroundings are a little too busy for my taste. Almost looks like there is some motion blur in the weeds. Maybe they can be toned down slightly.

Btw I'd be interested in hearing more about your ISO tests and the 7D.

Hi Meesh - love that eye - Bg is just a little distracting maybe toning it down a tad and a bit of blur might help.
Noise looks good and should be able to go to 1600 on the 7D without much trouble.
    Keep em coming :)

Same here, darken the BKG down a bit. Cool picture! The eye is amazing!

Thanks Alfred. I did not blurr the BG. I think it's funky either from wind blowing or from my bit of camera shake. Either way, today was the first for experimenting with the 1.4x on the 500, and there will be a learning curve.

    Thanks Rachel. :)

I don't know much about 7D's ISO, just trying to learn to use higher ISO's and make the processing look nice! As Alfred says, make a good photo, not a 'photo that is good for high ISO'.

In this case, I should have used higher ISO's!

Thanks Harold. I think it's unanamous that there are too many distracting elements! :D

Thanks Lance! I will head upward into 1600 territory. :) And keep working at learning the blur tool. It's one that I haven't used much.
