Very nice flight pose, is that sand in the BG and foreground? Too still to be water, I like the inclusion of the shadow, it balances the comp. Great EXP and good to get light in the eye, not always easy.

Fabs its sand with a very thin layer of water on top.

Michael, Wonderful shot. I have the same one;). The shadow is a nice touch and you did a great job w/ the exposure.

I really like the shadow. The vertical format is different and seems to work well. Nice job.

Really different, I have never seen a skimmer image like this with the blue sand and shadow. Quite nice, and well thought out.

Perfect wing position, sharpness, EXP, and great detail in both the under and upper wings. As above, the eye looks great. Did you do anything to the eye or the area around the eye during optimization? The crop and the shadow are too cool.

I lightened up the eye but not outside the eye.

Thanks for the info. Whatever you did, it looks great. I have had good luck lightening the eye ring (or the eye skin) on birds with black hoods or masks.

I'll repeat others but just say for me the composition and shadow are really great elements of the image.

One of the best images I have seen of this species. Light angle couldn´t be better, wing position, exposure, eye contact but the shadow... wow, it is the perfect bonus for this image. I really like this one Michael :)

Lovely image. Your chosen crop to include the shadows takes this over the top for me. I also echo all great comments above.
