Nice profile shot. I like the detail in the mane. Although I can see the different colors in the eye, without a bit of catchlight it seems a little lifeless compared to the contrast of the black and white stripes. Probably because of their long, thick eyelashes? I suspect I'll be in the minority but I also really like the gold, sparkly bushes in the BG.

    Hi Rachel

Nice profile and the tones and colours of the BG work well to lift the head. Would use Highlight/Shadow to lift the eye only and them a tad of curves to bring out the blacks of the strips to give it a little more punch. Also another round of USM say 70, 0.3, 0 will work too. Might lose some off the RHS, as there is enough for he/she to look into.

    Hi Rachel

Regarding the eye I was playing with it in PS ... can use quick mask to select the area around the eye or just do a quick selection with any tool and feather (by a lot) then apply S/H In PS5 works very well Will get some detail in the eye !! Like it a lot !!

Steve, Steve and Al - Thanks for the comments. While Al was posting I had already done another round in PS based on the suggestions Steve and Steve made. Here's that repost. Please let me know if you think I should go further with the eye.

    Thanks again,
    Rachel

Agreed. Your little tweak puts a bit of life into the eye.
