    Default Green Heron Stalking

I took a number of photos of this green heron stalking and catching fish in the pond at Wellfleet Mass Audubon Sanctuary. What was realy noticble about this heron was its bright orange feet. There were 5 other green herons present, none of which had as biright colored feet. Minimal crop and linear contrast only.

BTW my D300s then went crazy and refuse to autofocus so of it went to nikon

Very nice alert pose and EXP. Using f/8 gave you relative detail in the ocean, not isolating the bird enough IMO. Selectively sharpening the head can work better. And you could also crop some off the top, too much negative space there. Too bad about the camera :( They'll fix it good for you.

I like the pose in this one, and adding to Fabs' suggestions, a lower angle would have helped if that was an option.

I'm sorry to hear your camera needs a repair, I hope it's still under warranty.

To add to what's been said, it would be great to have the bird angled more toward you. Also, maybe brighten it some?

    Hope your camera gets fixed!

Nice stalking pose, but ... dark bird lost against dark background. Solution: Mask off the bird and lighten the
surrounding water. Don't be a wimp. Really lighten it! ;) I would (and did) also crop some from top, bottom,
    and right. Good capture!

Myer, Good suggestions above, but you needed to be five yards to your left in order to parallel the bird. This would have given you a much better head angle. Like the raised foot and the SH.
