Thaken earler this year on Bull Island in Dublin. Overcast day except for about 5 minutes. Got this shot at that time. Sharpened, cropped (20%) and removal of some OOF reeds in FG. Little bit dogging on head.

Hi Michael, Good, even light and sharp. The HA looks ok to me while some might want it angling more towards the viewer. Been debating the backround(which shows the environment) and like the reed pointing in the same direction as the duck. I might crop the small band of dark area on the top just above the reed.

I'm thinking in the same line as Dave regarding the bg, would just take little darker top part and the two dark lines on the left !! With these you need to go in and work on the eye, darkening the pupil should do it !!!

agree with the crop off the top. i'm torn on whether i would clean up the bg or not. i would love to see it clean just to judge it. i know i've done a lot of work cleaning one up only to go back to the original. in any case the bird looks fantastic. nice job getting in the opening and not merging with any of the bg stuff.

Hi Michael - IMHO I'd leave the BG adds some character. Im fine with the HA - Bird looks like you could coax some more details from it. Colours look good and has a nice feel to it.
    ISO 100?
    Looking forward to seeing more!

Nice pose and angle. Congrats on getting it at just the right time when the light was shining. Agree with Dave about the top dark bar, and the image needing a few passes of USM or sharpening.
