Thank you Mark. It is not easy shooting head on. I got more OOF shots than sharp ones.
One way I heard of before is people tune the lens to front focus, so when you lock on the bird and shoot, it will actually be in focus in front of where you locked it.
Good thing to try...
Hi Troy, Excellent head on view which is not easy to get into position to shoot at that angle. The lighting is warm and I like the way you cropped the subject. The waves add interest! Nice going!
Like that wing position/shape Troy With the birds coming at you the AF of most cameras (maybe all) will have more problems than any other direction !! Like the soft light and look of the water !!! Excellent !!
Interesting perspective. Tough to do, I'm sure -- I can't imagine getting my AF to do this, especially with the water bg to contend with. Well done. I wonder if stopping down a bit might help with these; but then you might not get the oof waves in the bg.
