    Default Red Squirrel (Black form)

Taken at the end of the afternoon, almost no light to shoot.
Red Squirrels range from red/orange to brown or almost black like this one.

    Canon 40D, 300mm f/4 IS, Tripod from hide, f4.0, ISO 400, 1/30 sec.

Hi Paul Tough lighting situation here Looks like there was some from the top? legs are sort of blocked in shadows Not much more you could do, did place the squirrel in a good position in frame and like the space given !!!

Hi Paul, Never seen a black squirrel before:) Like the placement in the frame. Some fill flash might have helped to pull detail out of the darker areas.
