    Default Magnificent Frigatebird

I photographed this male Frigatebird at James Shadle's boat in the evening when the clouds started to turn pink.

Wonderful shot Axel. Love the BG, wing position, and HA. Exposure looks VG.

Great to see this awesome bird, Axel. You caught in in a cool position and I like the vert comp.

    Axel,

Good details in the blacks of this hard to photograph birds (i.e., getting the right exposure for the blacks).

Sharing your reasoning behind the exposure chosen would benefit others.

    Hey Axel,
Great detail in the blacks and a really nice turn pose.....tail split is very cool also. Even at this small size I can make out the eye!!! Very nicely done!

You couldnt have captured a better angle than this. Great timing, well exposed, and of course the late afternoon light adds so much more. Well captured.

    Thanks for the kind comments!

Robert, I used manual exposure and metered off the sky and gave it +1 EC since the plumage is so dark. Shutter speed was high enough since these are large birds.

Thanks, Arash! In this case I would go with the original post because it shows the iridescence of the plumage which is gone in the repost. :)
