Hi Ken, I like how you caught the subject almost skipping across the water. Good positioning based on the head location. Any lower and the head would have been masked. Regarding framing in this case I would of had more space on the bottom then on top.
The whites do look a bit hot near the head but good detail in the neutrals. The splash trail adds interest...

Hi Ken Like it a lot !!!

Wouldn't mind seeing a little more of the water, drops look interesting and add to the image, a tiny more separation with the bill would be great but sure will take it for myself as presented. Might want do desaturate the water a little? Sweet capture and love it !!!

Thanks Al and Dave....went back and added more room on the bottom and right side to show more of the water trail....was going to do that initially but was trying to avoid having the subject centered in the frame...so I cropped the right side and left more room on the left for the bird to run into. I desaturated the background and did a 6% burn to touch up the hot white on the inside of the upper wing. In this case I guess it is okay to have the subject more centered as the water droplet trail makes it so much more interesting

In this case there is a lot of action behind the bird and worth showing, water trail form the foot looks great !!! I think it makes for a stronger image Ken !!

Hi Ken - repost is better - Coulurs looked a bit wild on the OP.
Were you shooting from a boardwalk or something?? Seem to be shooting down at the subject - nothing wrong with that - just curious.
    Good show :)

Thanks so much Al...another learning experience from you...the action was behind the bird. I should have stuck to my initial thought showing the water trail because it was the best part.
I was shooting down from a boardwalk Lance. Of course I would have preferred to be eye level but in this case, if I was standing in the water, the VR on my lense would not have corrected the blurring because I would have been shaking with the 12 foot Alligator that was 20 yards behind me in the water on the other side of the boardwalk. It might have been a good entry in Fabs' creativity project but you would have one less BPN member. And to think I got off Capt. James' boat in the middle of Tampa Bay

Hi Ken - exactly why I asked the question :) Hard to say a lower angle would be good - if it was going to put you amongst the gators :)

    Ken,

I wonder if you have another frame, either before or after, might have a better separation on the head.

Head was not visible in the other frames Troy...it was one of those quick grab shots but will go back and check again
