Another w/e of rain so I am trying some indoor macro. Used the twin lite macro lite @ -3 and the 580EX II as the slave set up behind the flower in ETTL.

Hi Jackie, nice job controlling the light along with a different view of the subject showing it's interior. Good choice of backround and the slight offset diagonal placement. Well thought out...

I would consider increasing the contrast a bit. Otherwise, love the colors and the composition ! There seems to be some horizontal lines/patches in the background. Not sure what they are but not really a deal breaker for me.

One thing I find interesting is you had to reduce the flash-light exposure by 3 (3 stops?), increased the AV by 1/3 and resulted in a shutter speed of 1/3s which I think was determined by the camera with or without the flash.

Very nice, Jackie. Love the colors and composition. I also noticed the streaky spots in the bg, but didn't bother me too much. Nice work with the lighting.

Desmond I'm not quite sure if I was at -3 or not. Doesn't show in the EXIF. Just trying to practice with the macro flash and thought I'd try the slave too. The BG is a texture picture that I printed up. I probably should have turned it the other way so it might have looked like grass. It was either that or a white wall.

Jackie, next time you want to use flash, try shooting in manual exposure mode. Aperture-priority mode does not give you any advantage and in fact could give you undesirable shutter speeds to work with depending on the scenery.

Tried manual, but then I can't use live view which gives me great focusing for macro.:( Thanks for the advice though I will keep it in mind for other types of shooting.

Beautiful flower and nice composition, Jackie. Most pleasing! Once you fix the minor problems with the BG in PS, including a dust bunny on the left side, you will have a big winner IMO.

Tried a gaussian blur on the BG, removed dust bunnies (sensor cleaning time!), and tried smoothing out some of the streaks. Thanks for the comments.
