I have a love/hate relationship with textured images. I tend to love everyone else's and hate my own. :o

I finally challenged myself to sit down and play with one until I liked it and this was my first one that didn't hit the trash can in quite awhile. The original image was the three hosta stalks. I added a texture of some long grass that I photographed last August while on vacation. The next texture was an "old paper" texture I picked up off the Internet and the final thing was to add noise (filter/noise) in CS4.

Anything you think I still need to work on?

Jules, The colors and the composition are great. I think the texture and the grain work well together. :)

I like the comp and the colours Julie, I wonder what it might look like w/o so much grain (noise). I might have left that out. Maybe you could post with just the old paper for comparison.

I've tried a few of these old paper and texture images and they can be pretty tough to get right..when I first looked at your image, I wondered what it would look like without the out of focus flower on the left, so I downloaded image and played with it. I found that flower was needed as a balance, I like the texture, colors and composition...grain gives it that old look..nicely done

Hi Jules, I think you did a good job with this. Great colors and the texture and grain complement the subject very well. I think I would just tone down/blur the leftmost stalk a little.
    God Bless
