Hi Thomas, Well,heres my opinion.......Beautiful! Excellent play on light which has the lit opening becoming the center of interest. The dark foreground frames the bottom while still seeing detail and the pano crop is effective
Another idea is to crop the right a little before the first dominant tree on the right.
This image is a good example how a very simple subject,with the right lighting,can be dramatic and command alot of interest.

Hey Thomas,
I think you should take up landscapes!!! This is fantastic! Landscapes are all about the light....the light....the light! You have outstanding light and a great balance of everything else compositionallly in this pano crop. I can see Dave's point on the crop, but I would leave this as is. Great job!!!

I cheated a little in my analog years with landscape,but have always loved macro and flowers
the most.But it's fun to do something different and it makes you think from another perspective.
I agree,Roman,the light is 99% of an image!

I prefer the original, as the lighting is more dramatic, and more closely matches my conception of the transition from dark to light often seen in wooded areas.

very nice shot! agree with the others that the light here makes it. I slightly prefer your original post due to its darker shadows

Robert,I like your version too,but I think the original looks more dynamic.
It's hard to see in this web-size,but the original RAW-file shows how good
my little Limited 35mm is with details in the shadows,even the darkest ones.

Of course you're qualified.Everybody is,it's the different levels of experience
that makes the inputs so varied and intresting.It's a matter of taste in the end,
