    Default Long-eared Owl juvenile

I had the good fortune to find a pair of nesting Long-eared Owls in my home town of Ottawa, Ontario. This species is elusive here. That doesn't deter me though :-)

I was looking up when I should have been looking down. Could have saved some unecessary neck cranking. Perched on a branch low to the ground, my heart skipped a beat as this juvenile long-eared owl stared right at me. Long-eared owl young fledge before they can fly.

    Photographed with a Canon 40D and 70-200 2.8L lens + TC 1.4x.

Is this your first time posting an image? Where are you linking it from?
