    Default Skimmer

First time shooting skimmers, in flight shots near the nests were definitely not easy. I found it tough with the summer weather in FL, light constantly change with heavy clouds around. Good way to learn for sure.
Decided to leave a few debris on the sand to add some character to the image instead of the pain old white sand.
    Hope you like it.

    Manual

    Aperture: f/6.3

    Troy,

Love the background and the sand - didn't even notice the debris. Maybe a little more sharping of the head as it does not jump out of that BG even though I would have expected it to. It maybe my Notebook though.

    Slan,

    Michael

    Michael,
Will try to sharpen the head a bit more.

Troy exposure wise just need to compensate all the time With steady light its a no brainer and go to manual.

Next time out will do more AV and change the compensation according to the bg, I'm comfortable compensating and might just work well, last outing as noted had lots of trouble with being under !!

Another note on the skimmers, they need just about perfect light and need to have the eye clearly visible !! Good luck !!

... for Canon people if you have the highlight tone priority on ... best to switch off, have found it to be a problems with these birds in particular and most others.

Thanks for the tips Al. I will try. I have no shot in AV or Shutter Priority for some time because I always want to force myself to learn.
