    Hi all,

This is one of the first shots I took with my first DSLR. It was taken at Bali where I had some great oppertunities to photograph this beautiful kingfisher. This was taken at the end of the day.

    Hope you like it,

Well I would have been very happy for this to be my first photo with a new camera.

Very nice, pose, perch and BG. Great colors, too.

It'd be nice to see a touch more sharpening in this image. I also (depending upon your willingness and ethics of such) might consider removing that thin branch on the right via cloning, as it pulls my eye from the frame as opposed to leading it in. Nice composition and you've got a nice area for copy-space to the left of the bird.

    Hello Krijn,
this is a wonderful picture of a wonderful bird! You got very rich and bright colours and very pleasing light and background.
May be because of the high ISO (800), the background looks a bit noisy. But I think, you could use some Noise-Distrution Photoshop Tool or you could blurr the background a little bit, so that the background lokks somewhat softer, espacially near to the beak.

But, as I said above, I would love, to have that picture from my DSLR...
    Best regards,
    Rose

Very nice indeed. The feather details are fine.
I feel the bottom left corner too empty. :) Maybe I would crop to have the bird tighter in the frame.

Nice pose and colors. I would put the bird a bit lower in the frame and clone out the bright part of the BG.

I absolutely love the comp and subject here. It needs NR on the BG and personally, I would clone out the little twig heading out of the right side of the screen.
