    Default Munch

Here's another one of the lion eating the impala leg. Not as many hot highlights as yesterday's. Taken in the Timbavati, South Africa on the morning game drive.

    Canon 50D
    100-400 @ 275mm
    1/250
    f5.6
    ISO 200
Handheld from a safari vehicle, cropped to remove a few oof leaves at the upper right.

C&C welcome and appreciated. Thanks for looking,

    Rachel

Like this a lot Rachel, beautiful golden tones in the mane and down the profile of the lion. Great concentration captured in his face.

Hi Rachel Do like it a lot better, the tighter crop zeros in on the important .. the action !! Only softer light would have made it better !!!

Thanks everyone for the comments. Steve - not sure why you think it looks cooked. Only things done were some shadows and highlights, cloned out a couple of hot spots, slight increase in contrast, USM to the face and the crop. Thanks again everyone.

It really looks quite saturated overall IMHO compared to the last post of the same location. What was the 'picture style' setting set too, I assume there is that facility on 50D? If you had it on Shady...

    It's just my thought. :)

Picture Style was set to "standard." I may have changed the other one to "faithful" and that could be the difference. I had shot both on "cloudy" wb but changed it to AWB in DPP. This guy's mane was much more orange than red, especially when the light hit it.

Steve - I went back and I think that the darkening highlights screwed it up a little so I went back in and did a levels adjustment. Let me know if this repost looks less cooked. :)

The second post looks better to me Rachel. The first one seems to have a color cast to it. (orange?) I like the pose & the action that you captured.

Thanks Andrew and Morkel. Morkel - he was a very impressive but older male.
