i dont think this was has as much of the heavenly feel of the one yesterday, but this was a tough composition, nonetheless. i fought with the in camera composition and never got it quite as i wanted it. i fortunately left enough room for a small crop here to get it close.

D300, 50-500 at 500mm, f/9, 1/2500, ISO 640. once again, i was trying to keep the shutter speed up to counter my shaking hands and arms!

thanks for looking. comments much appreciated. btw, big thanks to everyone for stopping by and making the nice comments on yesterday's post!!!!

Harold - Like the catchlight and the open beak but agree that this doesn't work as well as the one posted yesterday.

Hi Mr H - like were you were heading - yesterdays was definitely more to my tastes.
Do like the open beak pose and the visible tongue.
    Exposure looks good!

Hi Harold, I fully agree that after working the skimmers for a while your hands and arms shake; it's not easy to get keepers with skimmers. I find the tongue a big plus, and the bird is well exposed. The BG and foreground seem a bit off IMO.

Open beak and tongue is interesting, but the OOF foreground does not work for me in this case.
I also see halo around the back of the head and neck.

Hi Harold, You did a great job with the head especially seeing the tongue. The backround is well muted but the white band in this image seems more like a barrier than a soft, gradual blur...

Hi Harold The bg colors made it for the other plus the bird was more elegant .... but this is plenty good and love it as presented !! Big Keeper !!!
