    From the recently completed Images for Conservation Pro Tour of Nature Photography Contest in S. Texas

    This image did not make my final portfoloio. As per usual with tour images pretty much straight from camera no cropping.

    Camera Model: Canon EOS 7D
    Shutter speed: 1/2000 sec
    Aperture: 5.6
    Exposure mode: Manual
    Flash: Off
    Metering mode: Multi-segment
    ISO: 400
    Focal length: 800mm

    Pretty cool image, I like the fluffed-up pose, composition, BG and exposure control. Is the reason you did not submit it the branch partially covering the bird's right foot?

    Thanks Axel. I just had stronger images of Harris Hawks. I'm not allowed to show images from my final portfolio until after the awards ceremony on July 10th. For your final contest portfolio your only allowed 2 images of any one species in each catagory...

    Beautiful image Dale and love the composition and excellent detail. Awesome BG and like the action and eye contact. Awesome work !!! Have you heard the results of the competition. ???

    Thanks Judy.... No not really but I do know I'm again one of the 3 grand prize winners. ICF flys me down to Laredo TX form Anchorage AK just after I finish up my brown bear tour. I take the red eye to make it just in time for the awards ceremony on July 10th.....

    I like the unusual pose and fluffy birds which show off good feather details are always nice!

    I love the ruffled pose and details. I was always impressed with the IFC not allowing any crops and the great job you guys do.
