Taken at pre dawn visit to the edge of the Swan river in Perth. I liked the cloud formation and the early morning color and thought I would find out what others thought... Might be a bit dark in a few spots but it was pre dawn... C&C most welcome!!

Very nice, Don! I especially like the sky and would emphasize it more by cropping from the bottom to the ROT. As presented, the horizon (trees) is just about in the middle of the image. Since I am drawn to the sky in this image, I find that the bird in the sky adds more than the swans.
Very attractive colours, light and silhouettes. As Ricardo pointed out the main issue here are related to composition. The horizon near the middle of the image, the silhouettes of the swans are mixed with other silhouetted areas specially the one on the right and there's some detail mid-point on the right side that should be removed. I would try positioning the camera lower to lower the horizon. Definitely worth getting up early again another morning to give it another try.
I think the swans in the water would have been perfect with all pretty water around them, no merges with the dark bg !! Sweet image with lots of feel !!!
Hi Don, Nicely composed and exposed. The sky has some drama and I like the small bird flying overhead. Agree with Al regarding the merge of the swans into shadow. If they were clearly defined it would have brought the image to another level. The image does have fine qualities though...
agree with ricardo about the crop and agree that it would have been perfect if the swans were furthur down in the frame. i love the colors and those clouds have nice depth!!
Than you for all the nice constructive comments. I would have reposted a cropped sample as per the many suggestions however apparently I am allowed 1 post only per day (I think...). I would have loved to get the swans lower in the frame but once they realised I had no food for them they quickly dissapeared off into the distance...:( I did go to this spot 2 days later for repeat but alas, the thunder storm that generated these clouds had passed and taken the nice cloud formation with it. Not the same...
Anyway, thanks for the help and I'll try and remember some (all) of this for my next submission
