I shot this in heavy shade in the early AM. The sun was to left & behind the tree. It is a small crop. I toned down the yellow scar on the tree.

Nice details. I feel the image is a bit bright, no?
Reducing the exposure a bit would be good in my opinion.
    Thanks for sharing.

Good-looking bird and interesting setting, too. I wish there were more eye contact and it looks too bright on my monitor. Have you tried to adjust the midtones? Did you use flash?

Alex, No fill flash. I shot the image @ +1.0 EV. I think you are right, it is too bright. Is the repost better?

It still looks too bright. How about this? I took the midtone slider to 0.8 and cropped a bit but would add a little more canvas top and bottom.

Thanks Axel. I like it. I shot this image in landscape when I needed to shot it in portrait. The bird was on the nest site about 2 seconds. All the room for cropping is to the LHS & RHS.

Maybe you will get another chance to photograph the bird and it's a good call not to use flash. Who knows, maybe he would abandon the nest.

Axle, here is another shot of the same bird with more eye contact. I was disappointed in the image because I think the eye is a bit soft & it is too tight vertically in the frame. WDYT?

Yes, there is some motion blur, nothing you can do about it other than increasing ISO next time for a higher shutter speed.

Nice image of a pretty bird. I have only seen the Eastern Bluebirds, which I have many in my yard, now. I vote for a bit more room at top and bottom. Catching the bird at a natural cavity is a big bonus.

Axel's repost looks best, making a good image finer. Hope your bluebird's local so that you can continue to improve your collection of shots of this beautiful species.
