Beautiful bird, pose, light, BKGR. Needs a crop from the bottom from just above the text. Then clean the suet (???) off the bill and you are good to go. Also love the slight look-back head angle.

I feel strongly here that there is much too much room below. I just wrote in another post that unless you have a good reason for doing so that there should be more room above the bird than below. I see no reason here to do that and in addition, a nice crop from the bottom eliminates that one big ugly whitish scar.
Sid, sorry about the loss of the border and the signature. Feel free to grab it, add those back, and repost it in this pane if you wish.

Artie,
Thanks for the repost. No problems with loss of signature.
My initial though on the crop was to go with less room at the bottom. After cropping the image I kind of felt that perch was little over powering. I thought by placing bird in the center and leaving more space around the bird might compensate for the over powering perch and balance the image. After seeing your crop I am kind of rethinking now. Thanks again for your time.
YAW. It's funny; side by side the original post looks pretty good :o

Artie:
Somehow your repost makes the bird look a bit short and dumpy, while the original, when viewed side by side with the repost, looks better to me. That shows the value of seeing them truly side by side for comparison.

Very nice shot. Thanks for the side by side comparison with Artie's crop. I guess you have to go for the in between the two.
excellent image for all reasons said above , Thanks for the side by side comparison
TFS
Nice looking bird this, loved the perch a lot too..
Don't know why this struck me now but the correct name of this species is Ladder-backed Woodpecker.
