    Default Cooper Hawk

    Hi Folks

Been awhile, however, with Gina back from her yearly visit to England, eyes much improved and hearing aids updated I decided to take some photos yestertday in my friends yard, only 1/2 mile from my place while she was visiting her place on Long Island, one of the first stomping grounds of Artie & Tom Veos. I get a lot of birds, but June is in font of a park, and gets many more than me. A unusual sign pinned to a hugh pine tree greeted me when walking through the park.
HAWK nesting in this area has been very aggressived. Avoid this area while walking a dog. US & State law prevents Arizona Fish & Wildlife to remove the nest. Folks have been dive bombed by Cooper Hawks & one gal had her shirt torn. Article will be in local paper tomorrow. On my way out when all packed up I witnessed a gal with a small dog get dive bombed 8x, getting as close as a foot away. She said it was so creepy as the Hawk is so silent when it flies down.

However, I did get a few shots of a young one in a tree about 20' up. There are 2 adults & 2 young ones.

I was very lucky and got a great variety of birds in 2 mornings . . . over 200.

    Comments greatly appreciated

    Gus

good to see you back, UG!!! the processing on the bird here looks great. just a little busy environment. i think you can clean it up a little and it would be even better.

Agree with Harold. Very sharp and great detail just a little too much environment but not a lot you could do at time of shooting. Hope you got some of it in dive bomb mode.

Hi Gus, I agree the image is sharp with good, even lighting. If this were mine I would also clean up some of the intersecting branches

Welcome back Gus - sharp as a tack - lovely colours.
Would clean up the BG and run some NR.
Personally would have preferred a bit of ahead turn towards you - but dont mind this either.

    Good show!!

Just the two branches on the LHS Gus (the in focus ones), otherwise nice and sharp, good exposure and pose. You still got it Gus!

Hi Gus! :) Great sharpness and detail. Glad to hear your eyes are better. I like this as an environmental shot, so if you didn't clean up the sticks, it wouldn't bother me.
