    Default Red-necked stint, Shanghai

To photograph this lone red-necked stint, I set my tripod as low as it could go, just above the water. I was surprised to find a stint at 31 degrees north so late in the spring!

    Camera: Nikon D300
    Lens: VR 600mm F/4G
    Vibration reduction: on
    Aperture: F/4
    Shutter speed: 1/1250s
    Exposure mode: aperture priority
    Exposure comp.: -0.7EV
    Metering: matrix
ISO: less than 200 (Nikon calls it "0.3EV under 200")

Detail, head turn, feet position, shooting angle: all excellent. Beautiful shorebird image.

Perfect, Craig. Low angle images for shorebirds work so well. The light here is lovely and warm. Thanks for sharing this.

Stunning shot. Love the head turn and love the low angle.
