    Default Woodstorks during golden hour

Wondering what you guys think of this one. I do like the foreground and framing that the OOF grasses provide, and think the subjects work nicely against the background.

Taken on a trip to Bull Island, SC. 7D, 500mm, f/4, ISO 400, 1/1600, handheld.

    Colin:

I like the concept, but somehow find there is too much space top and bottom, and the birds don't quite pull my attention like I would like.

I tried more of a pano crop, to play up the birds, and adjusted the luminosity of parts of the image.

Just a quick pass, will be curious what others think.

I do think the image would have been stronger if the birds had been all or mostly facing the same way. The varied poses do tend to weaken the impact for me.

    Cheers

Good to see so many storks Colin, and I like what Randy has done. I like the overall colours.

I like the shot. I would crop a bit of the top to raise the group slightly in the image but leave the bottom where it is so as not to encroach on the reflections. Also, according to my monitor Randy has over brightened the whites in the birds.

Great idea and nice repost by Randy, Another option for the crop would to crop from top exactly where Randy did and leave the bottom for the nice OOF green framing the reflection. Options, options.... :)
You did well with the EXP and I don't mind them facing in different directions, since that is what usually happens, they need to cover all bases LOL

Thanks, for giving me yet another cropping option. :)

And I don't at all mind them facing different directions either, they're just doing what comes naturally.

I like Randy's crop. The birds are already busy enough, including a busy BG did not help.

    Lots of good input Colin.
In thinking about it, I am liking the crop from top, and leave most of the bottom option better than my version. but its close.

    Cheers
