    nice wing position with fish.

    Where was the focus point here? did you put it on the bird? it looks soft despite the moderate focal length and 1/1600sec. you could also clean up the noise in dark areas.

    Arash you are quite right, the image is soft, (the focus point clipped the leading edge of the right wing). I was field testing this lens for a magazine and have since found out that Sigma have recalled this batch of lenses. I had so many shots of puffins with sand eels in their bills and they are all just a little soft. :( Hopefully I have another inflight shot that I think will pass muster. Next year I will be taking my Canon 500 to the Farnes, I have thus far avoided doing so making do with the 100-400L.

    Such a shame about the sharpness as the puffin is such an interesting looking bird. He has quite a worried look on his face, but with that beakful he should be quite relaxed.
