Another in my ongoing onslaught of Gray Fox images. Several replies have revealed some want an all green background. I revisited the folder and pulled out some with just that. The male came in quite close for these last several shots I have posted...on this particular night...he was in very close, but there was not much light to work with.
As such, High ISO (in relation to a D300s that is;)) was needed to get barely useable SS's with a moving subject.
D300s, 600VR, f/4, ISO 1600, 1/160th, +.3EV compensation
I only was able to capture a few images when he was in super close with an all green background. Unforunately, all but this one were too soft to keep. He was very busy moving about, hunting, etc...and with low SS's, I just could not freeze him in the frame. I got lucky on this one as he looked back at the female coming out into the pasture. Self critique...I wished he would have looked more over at me to see both eyes...that is my main complaint with this image. As it is...is what it is:D. As always C&C are welcomed and encouraged, hope you enjoyed...more to come.
Jason - Like the green bg. The nose looks a little soft but as you explained he was moving around. Looks like there may be a reflection in the eye that throws off the effect of the stare a little. I like your series.
Just Sweet love that even green bg !! Look on the face is very good and don't mind seeing only one eye, as presented for me !!! .... you got a nice fox collection !!!
Jason, the nice profile of the nose and ears more than makes up for "only" one eye, imo. The pose and intent stare is great. Nice colors and detail, as well as a pleasing BG.
