    Canon EOS 40D Lens 100-400mm L IS USM at 380mm ISO 640 5.6 1/2000 available light 20 June 2010
    This turned out to be a one shot wonder as it was the only opportunity I got to take an image. The Brown Thornbill is small at 10cm but is a delightful quick moving bird which adopts attractive poses. Birds in Backyards feature this species at:

    and again Fred van Gessel has provided a MP3 sound clip that will give you an excellent if short impression of the call. Australia has 12 species of thornbills an interesting small bird group.

    Rod, This looks like it has a spotlight effect. Nice pose and lovely color in the BG. It seems a bit centered to me. Sharp details.

    Eye contact, pose and angle look very good and I also find the unusually-lit BG attractive. The sharpening looks good on the body but there are some 'jaggies' on the tail feathers.
