    Hey,

I finally decided to become a real member here. :)

This species has always been a big time nemesis for me. In my eyes they are one of the most spectacular duck species in Europe. Usually they fly away if you get closer than a couple of hundred feet. However, I learned about a pond where they breed and are more acustomed to humans. It was so great to finally get this species :)

Welcome, newest member, you can not only host images on the BPN server but it also makes you eligible for the image of the week! :)

Cool bird, very good sharpness, light and angle. For some reason, the dark spot behind the head draws my attention.

Nope, that looks fine, it's in the 240 range. :) Do they all have that spot? I'm not familiar with this species.

    Jan:

Nice to have you as a full fledged member!

Lovely duck, lots of interesting details, from the eye and bill, white and gray patches, etc.
Sharp, nice background, good shooting angle.

    Cheers

Glad you joined Jan !!! Welcome !!!

This duck brings back lots of memories, we had one in a local park named Pancho, could hand feed him !!

Really nice light and nailed the exposure, excellent shadow and highlight detail !! ... also very sharp !!!

Wonderful looking Duck, and I like the light, colours and sharpness. If anything, I would take a bit off the bottom.

Jan, for shooting ducks-on-pond, half the battle is in finding such spots. Unless you can swim close to them :-) glad that you found yours.

I am a big fan of such images....beautifully done. the light, IQ, sharpness, orientation w.r.t sensor....just perfect. Since reflection is blurred, I'd have cropped a little from below and add more space at top as that BG is so sweet.

Lovely species! Great portrait, light is phenomenal. I would tone down the white spot on the back slighlty?
