    Default Black Bear

Hi all... this black bear was seen near Tower Junction in Yellowstone NP yesterday afternoon. This is cropped from a horizontal capture and slightly along the bottom. I was pleased (for the most part) to see how iso800 worked with the 7D, and LR3 seems to be handling noise pretty well too. I of course wish I could've been closer, but you take what you can get. ;-)

I also saw a couple grizzlies that were too far away to photograph... don't know if everyone has heard, but a man was attacked and killed by a grizzly while hiking just outside park boundaries to the east. Very sad indeed.

    Thanks for looking,
    John

I read somewhere that Grizzly was found and killed :( , is it true ? Human will always keep himself on top priority , what so ever part of world it may be :(

Lovely pose by bear here , nice surroundings and tree trunk in BG adding , do I see some magenta cast or its me only , all in all excellent image

Harshad... I was tweaking the image slightly and reposting when you made your comment. Hopefully it looks better now... it's late here and I should probably wait until tomorrow to do more editing... lol.

I see there is a thread about the tragedy of the hiker being killed by the bear in the general forum. The report I read is that the bear has been put down by wildlife officials.

Hi John Great looking bear !

Yes I did hear about it and we have a link in Gen Photo Discussion, so sad.

Best if you leave the original and just re post changes, helpful for people learning to see differences. Lots of detail on the bear and like the setting, ideally all grass with flowers would be the choice but like it a lot as presented.

Noise wise you can push the 7D lots more just do not under expose. Just did a bunch in a rodeo all 1600 to 3200 and worked well, got some posted in F&F Processing is tricky since they end up with low contrast, you need to bump them up ! Do experiment see what you can get away with !! ... sure wish I was at the park last month !!!

Very nice capture, I would love to see one in the wild. Love the yellow flowers in the foreground and I'd be worried of direct eye contact :)

Nice pose John and I like the canopy of framing that the fallen tree up top provides. Maybe a touch more sharpening on the bear.

Nice pose of the bear and I like the inclusion of the branches and surrounding grasses. Gives a nice sense of place.

John, very nice image. I like the pose of the bear and the green and yellow BG. If it were my image though, I'd crop out most of the fallen snag. My eyes keep going to it.
