I like doing high key macro work and using my flash powered up to bring some details back into the image and also wash/soften the colors. Not everyones cup of tea but figured I'd try it with a landscape image. Definitely more challenging that flower images in high key! Wasn't thrilled with the FG rocks and the way the deliberate over exposure affected them.....still working on that version.....but decided to use find edges on the fg to lessen their impact.....leaving the tree as originally exposed in camera. Still debating this one myself so any suggestions/recommendations would be appreciated!

Roman, Very interesting look here. I love the tree and the way it curves and hangs. I like the way you kept the tree free of the filter. I'm debating the find edges effect for the FG.

Hey Roman, love the tree! I'm with you on the fg though, might crop away most of that to highlight (haha) the high-key effect on the tree.

I like the comp Roman, I wonder if you lowered the opacity on the find edges. I am dying to put some blacks back into the neutrals, but then it wouldn't be HK.

The high key and tree (which is stunning) really works. I agree with Kerry to crop most of foreground. If mine (just a guess as don't know what original looks like) I might try keeping only minimal details of ground/foreground that is left after crop and have high key ground/foreground as well (don't know if that makes sense and only suggestion).

    Hi All,
Thanks for the suggestions! Back to the drawing board for me then! I will play around with the rocks again or try lightening the opacity.....I know the tree is worth trying to work somehow so need to give it some more tries!

I love the tree and the water - it reminds me of the culture of the Far East. I wonder if just making the blue a tad more prominent and the rocks less so might serve the same purpose at the Find Edges?

Ditto on the comments, find the effect of the tree lovely..but would probably remove bottom 1/4 at least

    Hi Patti and Paul,
Thanks for the suggestions.....I am going to rework the original and implement your excellent suggestions! I hope I can get those FG rocks to match the tree! Will repost if I get it close!
